Hello 👋, I'm Marcos Oliveira

I love challenges, learning, teaching, researching, and solving problems: I am a Scientist!

📈 I am passionate about data-driven solutions, which led me to pursue a BSc. and an MSc. in Computer Science, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.

🚀 I have over 10 years of experience applying data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and artificial intelligence in research projects. Python, C/C++, and Matlab have been a part of my routine for some time, both in academic and personal data science projects.

👨‍🎓 During my Master’s, I investigated the usage of Holt-Winters statistical forecasting in detecting network anomalies and attacks. In my Ph.D. thesis, I studied the use of Game Theory to mitigate network attacks and the effectiveness and feasibility of different Machine and Deep Learning methods to detect them.

👨‍🏫 I am currently an Assistant Professor/Researcher of Computer Science at the Federal University of Paraná - Brazil. In this position, I have guided undergraduate students in classes and research projects to improve the learning process using applied computing. I’m also currently Head of the Computer Science undergraduate course.
