Docker image 0.31.0 does not have compatibility cpu settings

This looks very much like issue #1939 having a comeback. Happens on a KVM/QEMU (proxmox) VM with CPU set to x86-64-v2-AES, but works with CPU >= x86-64-v3.

• The current proxmox (9.x) default cpu type is still x86-64-v2-AES
• Red Hat recently deprecated x86-64-v1 and x86-64-v2 for RHEL 9 and requires x86-64-v3 for RHEL 10
• Unless you are running very old hardware, your (proxmox) host CPU(s) will most likely support x86-64-v3
• So, maybe proxmox will adjust the default CPU type in the not to far future, but until then ...

This is indeed the same root cause as #1939.

We now use the official PlantUML binary/jar (not a fork), and PlantUML's Smetana/Graphviz-related native rendering bits are compiled with optimizations that assume a newer microarchitecture (x86-64-v3+, e.g. AVX2). On CPUs limited to x86-64-v2, this causes a crash (illegal instruction / SIGILL), which is exactly what you're hitting on your Proxmox VM.

This isn't something we can fix on the Kroki side directly. The option to build/target a more compatible baseline hasn't been added upstream in PlantUML. I've opened an issue upstream to propose adding that compatibility option: plantuml/plantuml#2760

In the meantime, the workaround is to set your VM's CPU type to x86-64-v3 or higher (or pass through host CPU features) as you noted.

For now I just set the CPU to x86-64-v3 on the VM running the kroki docker containers (so I don't need to revert to kroki-0.30.1), but I will probably return to x86-64-v2-AES as soon as this is fixed. As a "march-guard" for future releases so to say ...

I'd like to suggest updating ./server/README.adoc#plantuml to reflect commit 2d9d328, i.e. the Dockerfile directly uses upstream's native-image.

This unfortunately also happens for 0.32.0 with the same 400 The current machine does not support all of the following CPU features that are required by the image: [CX8, CMOV, FXSR, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4_1, SSE4_2, POPCNT, LZCNT, AVX, AVX2, BMI1, BMI2, FMA]. Please rebuild the executable with an appropriate setting of the -march option. (exit code 1) error.
