adding structure.from_cif to the existing structure class

Could you please explain how to add a new classmethod to the existing Structure class. I believe the proper syntax is

@classmethod
def from_cif(cls, filepath: str):
    """
    Create a Structure object from a local CIF file.
    """
    parser = MMCIFParser()
    structure_data = parser.get_structure("cif_file", filepath)
    # ... (processing to build Volkamer Structure object)
    return cls(atoms, residues, bonds)

However I have not managed to add this to the existing Structure. Many blogs exist, but I have failed.

Any advice would be appreciated.
