sort is filling /tmp with uutils_sortXXXX directories

I'm testing ubuntu 26.04 and by default it runs uutils coreutils. I started seeing message like this:

write failed: disk quota exceeded

and after further investigation I noticed there were lots of /tmp/uutils_sortXXXXX leftover directories on /tmp.

This is the version present on ubuntu 26.04: 0.7.0-0ubuntu1. I've also opened a bug on ubuntu launchpad reporting this

Yeah, but GNU sort never left those directories after it's not running and fill /tmp partition

Same here. It doesn't clean up the temp stuff after finishing.

I don't have a recipe to reproduce it, I just noticed it happened during a regular day of work so it was probably triggered by sort called by one of the scripts used here. I moved it back to GNU coreutils so I can work without having such issues.

I was doing lots of deb package building so it probably came up from that task.
