new AI features

Hello everyone,

I have been using this app for about a year now, and I am very satisfied with how well it works.

I am on a dynamic electricity tariff and use an automation to charge my electric car accordingly. Recently, E3DC has also introduced new AI-based features that look very interesting.

Are there any plans to integrate these new AI functions into the app?

Hi @Docewil

no plans there as of now; I stopped using the E3DC AI feature as it is really bad in terms of optimizing usage at least for my scenario. Also, the feature completely puts control of the unit to a cloud driven service. It actually overwrites a number of commands (like manual charging) hacs-e3dc will send to the unit.

So, the most probable thing we'll be doing with regards to this is to actually disable a number of features if we detect AI control of an E3DC.

Okay, I see your point. I have also deactivated AI with regard to the wallbox and the EV charging point.

The interesting aspect is battery charging during winter, where it overrides the manual charging function. Otherwise, as far as I can tell, you can only use this manual charging function once per day.

Honestly, I'm not completely certain about how often this actually works. The web UI says once a day. Other users reported once every two hours. This gist of it, though, is that this is for testing mainly.

Try the new set power mode feature with 3.11, it allows more fine grained control (basically this should be close to what AI360 uses) and this API doesn't have restrictions as far as I know.

Thank you very much for your well-founded answers. I also sincerely appreciate your hard work. I agree that it is safer to rely on local automations for now rather than depending on a cloud-based AI.
