Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate the interest in a project that I am aware of its learning curve. To anyone considering getting involved, looking at the source code, or just sharing a thought: Thank you 🙂

I started this project several months ago, originally as a personal attempt to bring industry cloud and automation patterns to my private Proxmox home server. When I shared it, I didn't expect much interest. To be honest, the response for such a niche topic has been way more than I could have imagined.

You can probably still see the project's evolution. I started with a pure Ansible approach, but soon realized it was insufficient for handling the kind of dynamic, recursive complexity I was aiming for (e.g., rewriting submodule remotes).

Around that time, my job led me to Ruby on Rails—and I completely fell in love with the way it lends itself to an idiomatic, almost-functional style. While this project was initially born from that passion, seeing others use it now motivates me to focus more on accessibility.

This brings me to what this project is about, and why.

It's a platform architecture for an elegant, self-contained system. It's an attempt to build a generic IaC abstraction that manages its own lifecycle, initially driven by the question of what I wanted my own GitOps home automation to look like.

If you are an engineer fascinated by elegant, generic abstractions and enjoy thinking about system design from first principles, then you are exactly who I’d love to connect with to explore and shape the idea further together.

This is a non-commercial, passion-driven project. I’m looking to collaborate with other engineers who share the excitement of building a self-contained, bootstrappable platform architecture that addresses the question: How do we want our home automation to be?
