Astro Prediction Platform - Backend Implementation Summary

Overview

A complete, production-ready Node.js + TypeScript backend API has been successfully implemented for the Astro prediction platform, featuring comprehensive authentication (email/password + Web3 wallet signatures), database schema, and core services.

What Was Built

1. API Server (apps/api/)

2. Database Layer (packages/database/)

  • Users & Authentication (users, oauth_connections, wallet_connections, wallet_nonces)

Implemented Features

Authentication System

1. Email/Password Authentication

  • POST /v1/auth/register - User registration
  • POST /v1/auth/login - User login
  • Password strength validation
  • Bcrypt password hashing (10 rounds)
  • JWT token generation

2. Wallet (Web3) Authentication

  • POST /v1/auth/wallet/nonce - Request authentication nonce
  • POST /v1/auth/wallet/verify - Verify signature and authenticate
  • Support for Solana (Phantom, Solflare)
  • Support for Ethereum (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet)
  • Support for Base and Polygon networks
  • Nonce-based replay attack prevention
  • 5-minute nonce expiration

3. Token Management

  • POST /v1/auth/refresh - Refresh access token
  • POST /v1/auth/logout - Logout
  • GET /v1/auth/me - Get current user
  • Access tokens (1 hour expiry)
  • Refresh tokens (7 days expiry)

  • CORS protection
  • Rate limiting (100 req/15 min)
  • Input validation (Zod)

Quick Start

1. Install Dependencies

cd apps/api && npm install
cd ../../packages/database && npm install

2. Setup Database

createdb astro_db
cd ../../apps/api

3. Start Server

npm run dev

Server runs on http://localhost:3001

4. Test
