Hi,

I'm loving moodist. I have a spare iPhone at work that I use exclusively for bluetooth streaming to the work speaker. The fact that iOS stops playing the sounds as soon as the phone screen is turned off means that the poor iPhone has to stay with the screen on 24/7 if I want ambient sounds.

Are you considering an iPhone or Android app?

I'm happy to do it if you don't have any plans for one and are happy for me to give it a shot. I'd be open to doing native on each platform or just react native publishing to both.

I’ve encountered a similar problem and tried turning off the browser’s battery optimization to ensure it runs in the background, but it still cannot play when the screen is off. I’m really looking forward to your development! I don’t have the technical skills, so I can’t help directly. If possible, I’d like to make a suggestion: either have all current data built-in, or provide a web interface where users can fill in their own Docker deployment. Should the app only function like a browser accessing the site? I think the latter might make it easier to update with the author’s latest releases. Wishing you smooth development!

It should be fairly easy to wrap an application around this. I checked out PWAs, as that would be quite literally one file we would need to add but on iOS that wouldn't address problems of audio playback stopping. So we would probably need to be first-class citizen (a proper app) to address these issues so we can use the appropriate APIs.

I'm super happy to make a free open source react native app that just does the sound stuff for now and publish to both app stores with my existing app accounts.

I have no idea if this is a "great, i'd love that" type response from you or a "you are literally copying my work and publishing it".

I'd love to knock up a prototype of this for iphone and android, but I don't want to spend time on it if it doesn't have your blessing.

Also: i notice that now on my iPhone 16 with latest iOS updates I can sleep the phone and it still plays, so I'm not sure if you changed something in Moodist or iOS update addressed an issue, but the web version is suddenly useful :)

Hey @IsaacInsoll, sorry for the extremely late response. I've been working on some other projects and somehow completely missed this issue. I’ve made changes to make it work on iOS, but you’re still more than welcome to build the app if you wish.
