Behavior of ReaR when it comes to what will be backuped and what not?

Hi, i have here a universal question i could not find in the manual/user guide... whats the default behavior from ReaR about the backuped folders? Does Rear automatically disable mounted filesystems/folders/Symlinks which leave the physical system drive? How does ReaR choose which folder to backup? In my case i have File servers which house house up to 500TB and these should be not backuped nor restored - only the mounts and links to the RAIDs should be re-established....

As a follow up question - is there a way that ReaR will only(!!!) format/write (do wathever) on the system, boot-device and let ANY other drive in the system unharmed... resp. only rebuild the mounts/Symlinks to theses drives without changing anything on these drives? I do not want REAR to play around with other drives than the possible defect system drive...
