  • Understanding of therapy modes: CPAP (fixed pressure), APAP (auto-adjusting), BiPAP (two pressures), ASV (adaptive servo-ventilation)

Data Formats

  • EDF/EDF+ format parsing — the standard format for CPAP data on SD cards
  • ResMed SD card directory structure and file organization
  • Data channels: flow rate, mask pressure, leak rate, tidal volume, minute ventilation, respiratory rate, SpO2 (if oximeter attached)
  • Event channels: apnea events (obstructive, central, mixed), hypopnea, RERA, flow limitation (FLG), large leak, periodic breathing
  • High-resolution signal data (25–50 Hz for flow, pressure) vs. summary data (per-session)
  • Session boundary detection and multi-session night handling

Clinical Metrics

  • Ensure correct interpretation of machine-specific data quirks and edge cases.
  • Define data normalization rules for cross-machine compatibility (future multi-machine support).
  • Advise data-science on clinical metric computation rules.
  • Advise database on optimal storage schema for CPAP data structures.

Constraints

  • Handle ResMed firmware version differences gracefully — data format may vary between versions.
  • Validate imported data against expected ranges and flag anomalies.
  • Design the import pipeline with modularity — the plugin architecture must support future machine manufacturers (Philips Respironics, etc.).
  • Document all machine-specific assumptions and data interpretation rules.
  • EDF files are untrusted binary input — coordinate with security (via the orchestrator) on safe parsing.
