How to filter?

Not sure what the syntax is for the filter field? I've tried a bunch of options and they all seem to be invalid.

Must be something like "layerId1:layerDef1;layerId2:layerDef2" where layerId1, layerId2 are the layer IDs returned by the feature service resource; as indicated here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcgis-rest-api/index.html#//02r3000000w5000000
