Console freeze after i915 is loaded (Meteor Lake)

As soon as the system loads i915kms the console slows down until it freezes completely and the characters get garbled. Trying to switch tty doesn't have any effect. The only thing I can do is rebooting with the usual key combination.
This happens on both 15.0 and CURRENT. I have tried the drm-kmod package, the fresh drm-latest-kmod package, and also built the git port.The behavior is always the same. I'm on an HP All-in-one Intel Core 5 Ultra Meteor Lake.

Same here on ThinkPad T14 Gen5.

Also tried to compile drm_v6.10_1 on 15.0-RELEASE-p2, but didn't work out as it was missing header file /usr/src/sys/compat/linuxkpi/common/include/linux/compiler_types.h.

UPDATE: Found the info building against 15/RELEASE won't work until kernel patches have been applied:
