Systemd started using OSC 3008 to communicate a bunch of information about what's going on in a terminal, and this is now rolling out to Linux distributions such as Fedora 43, which send this sequence in interactive sessions by default.
vterm could accept this as an alternative to OSC 51 to detect the current directory, giving the user one less thing to need to configure.
