Where is the information stored when a user marks one or more computers with a star?

One of our users had marked more than 30 computers with a star in MeshCentral so he could find them quickly.
He then encountered issues with the clipboard in MeshCentral.
We deleted the MeshCentral Chrome Web App and reset the website permissions on his client.
After that, the clipboard worked again.

Unfortunately, however, not a single computer is now marked with a star anymore on his account.
How can that be?
Surely this information should be stored on the server and not on his local device

It's stored as part of the LocalStorage of the web browser
So uninstalling the web app from Chrome and reinstalling it would clear the LocalStorage as its setup as a PWA app

And if i remember the stars aren't synced either back to meshcentral for other computers

If u need this feature u would need to open a feature request for it :)

Hi @si458 how can a second PC access the locally stored browser data from another PC?
I’ve just tested it: PC1 – added a new PC in Mesh with a Star.
PC2 – Loggin in Mesh == > The new PC is here also marked with a star?

sorry, ive been off my game the past week, the is so much going on in my life at the moment, im losing the plot!
checked source code again, the stars are stored in LocalStorage of the web browser as stars
and then it uploads the stars as part of the userWebState to meshcentral to store for the user
then when the user logs in in another browser, it downloads that userWebState for the user from meshcentral
then applys all its settings etc including what stars you set!

Ah, alright.
Is there any way to back up the stars?

And why were they deleted in my case?
Did the empty folder/file have a more recent date, and did that cause the existing files on the server to be deleted?

the stars are stored in the database so they are already backed up
and im not sure why they might of been deleted! maybe a bug?
would need to try replicate it with steps etc then open bug report
