NewPipe-Legacy is really Became Legacy at present days (no new version)

Latest version of NewPipe legacy is 1.4 years old ???!!! [NOT WORKING PROPERLY]
It appears that it is discontinued.
As a long term user I would like to get a new version with proper functionality.
Thanks NewPipe Team for gave us such great software long time ago.

NewPipe developers seem to have started to fall into the older the less secure and the if vendor doesn't support it we shouldn't do that either mind traps and thus are making us do what Google and smartphone manufacturers also want the market to do: buy new devices and trash the old ones (forced consumerism).

NewPipe developers are even phasing out Android 4.4+ support and moving towards Android 5.0 as a minimum requirement. They fail to understand that for users without skills of installing custom ROMs (that would also break many things and lose a lot of functionality) NewPipe is the only full-featured alternative for official Youtube and SoundCloud apps.

You can convince them in the above thread I linked. Or as an alternative you can try Skytube. It's not as full-featured as NewPipe but is promising and has SponsorBlock integrated. Works pretty well on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, however set your format to H.264 (MPEG-4) and resolutions below 720p (480p, 360p, 240p) if your device is old and turn off Preferences > Video Player > Try newer Video formats (for some silly reason it's enabled by default).
