Conflicts between volunteers may arise due to misunderstandings, different working styles, or communication issues. To ensure a positive environment, follow these steps:
- Address the issue privately: Speak directly to the other volunteer in a respectful and constructive manner.
- Use non-confrontational language: Focus on finding a solution rather than placing blame.
- Mediation: If the conflict persists, request a mediation session with the volunteer coordinator Tatiana Michan Hoyos.
- Formal Reporting: If unresolved, escalate the issue to the program manager (Lidice).
Children may sometimes exhibit disruptive or challenging behavior. Volunteers should handle these situations professionally:
- Stay calm & patient: Avoid raising your voice or reacting emotionally.
- Understand the root cause: Speak with the child privately to understand their perspective.
- Set clear boundaries: Remind children of classroom expectations in a respectful way. 4. Engage the ReDI Team: If the issue persists, inform the ReDI Kids team for further guidance.
- Child safety comes first: If a child displays behavior that endangers themselves or others, immediately report it to a ReDI staff member.
