Touhou University Research Pack

Research baseline opened: 2026-07-24 Last index audit: 2026-08-13 Project: touhou_university_website
Status: maintained editorial/source/provenance pack for an unofficial, non-commercial fan website

Purpose

This folder records the evidence and editorial decisions behind the fictional “Touhou University” website. The site is an alternate-universe institutional translation of Gensokyo: canon identities and social structures are retained, while the university, its admissions process, faculties, statistics, projects and campus history are explicitly project-original.

The method was informed by an earlier separate character-research project, but this repository owns the complete actionable hierarchy below and does not depend on that other checkout:

  1. official profiles and works anchor factual claims;
  2. official-adjacent translations help locate passages;
  3. community references are navigation aids, not the sole basis for disputed character claims;
  4. fanon is labelled and never silently promoted to canon;
  5. in-universe narrators such as Aya and Akyuu are treated as biased witnesses.

Files

  • source-register.md — source hierarchy, links, and legal/fan-work review.
  • world-and-institution-notes.md — what Gensokyo already provides for an educational institution and what the AU adds.
  • faculty-matrix.md — character-to-faculty mapping with canon anchors and adaptation guardrails.
  • content-and-provenance.md — site content decisions and asset ledger.
  • academic-catalogue-and-transit.md — programme credits and fees, route-graph assumptions, and the spell-card research design.
  • spellcard-workshop-notes.md — six independent reviewer positions, lightweight sandbox constraints, public-defence structure and persistence.
  • phantasm-campus-notes.md — counterfactual-campus concept, six hard unlock seals, ordinary-site clue budget, dream curriculum, PHANTASM reverse paper and ledger isolation.
  • local-records-cabinet-notes.md — discoverable on-device storage, sealed export/import, deletion boundaries and scope language.
  • research-ethics-board-notes.md — five independent review seats, five ability/object disputes, non-averaged rulings and protocol lifecycle.
  • fieldwork-passport-notes.md — 24 station dossiers, character frictions, dispatch/complication/return lifecycle, provenance and passport seals.
  • commons-post-calendar-notes.md — four-seat tsukumogami property hearings, versioned crow-tengu post, non-linear delivery and the date/moon/season calendar projection shared by facilities, routes, My TU, BBS and Hieda.
  • graduation-careers-alumni-notes.md — eight-desk graduation evidence, twelve explained-friction destinations, eight problem-based alumni chapters and their causal/local-record boundaries.
  • employment-market-notes.md — non-exclusive graduate whereabouts, denominator hearings, twenty-one strange vacancies, odd-résumé replies, employment event projections and recruitment-poster provenance.
  • unified-examination-notes.md — ordinary and dream-paper difficulty contracts, diagnostic distractors, answer-key leakage thresholds and question-bank revision compatibility.
  • first-bell-orientation-notes.md — formal-admission gate, shared live route, recognisable stop/exit signals, first destinations and nameless projections for new-student arrival.

Which file should an agent read?

  • Character portrayal or faculty expansion: faculty-matrix.md, then the relevant source-register entries.
  • New school/course/research/map work: world-and-institution-notes.md and academic-catalogue-and-transit.md.
  • Generated or supplied imagery: content-and-provenance.md and source-register.md.
  • A named lifecycle feature: read only its matching *-notes.md file plus source-register.md if a factual Touhou claim changes.
  • Unified-examination writing, answer schedules or persistence migration: unified-examination-notes.md.
  • Pure code/build/test fixes: these notes are usually supporting context, not required wholesale reading.

The repository docs/research/ copy is the release authority. A sibling ../research/ directory may exist as the working mirror; keep corresponding files byte-identical when editing research.

Internal editorial labels

  • 原作錨點 / Canon anchor — a concise identity, ability, role or relationship supported by official works.
  • 校方設定 / University AU — an invention created specifically for this site.
  • 傳聞 / In-world claim — an account attributed to a fallible Gensokyo narrator or publication.

These labels belong only in working research and are not shown inside ordinary public-facing university content. The site does not reproduce game scripts, endings, sprites, screenshots, music or scans.
