Linked Places format (LPF for short) has seen increasing use and interest in recent months. There are a few activities related to it currently planned or being discussed, and since it can hopefully become a widely used standard for connecting gazetteer datasets or sharing place data generally, anyone with interest is invited to participate. Some of the agenda items...

• LPF is valid JSON-LD, an RDF syntax, and needs an ontology defining its vocabulary at least somewhat formally. A start was made on this, referenced in the LPF context doc, but has stalled for lack of time.
• Maybe it is worthwhile to consider not just a "Linked Places Ontology" but a broader "Linked Pasts Ontology"
• Issue number 25 in this repo suggests a crosswalk between CIDOC-CRM concepts and LPF is desirable
• The World Historical Gazetteer team (among the originators of LPF) will be working this fall on tools to aid conversions between LPF and other formats gazetteer data is typically held in (spreadsheets, shapefiles, various RDF syntaxes).
• It has been proposed that a new column be added to the LP-TSV delimited file 'flavor' of LPF, "attested year," since "start" and "end" are typically interpreted to indicate a valid period for a place, although often only a date of a source is known.
