"Could not locate the bindings file" after the upgrade

I'm putting this here just in case it helps someone else.

After upgrading from v1.16.2 to v1.17.1, zigbee2mqtt wouldn't start - the error "Could not locate the bindings file" kept appearing.

I found a couple of issues related to this, but none of the fixes worked:

In the end, I scraped nodejs v10 off and installed nodejs v12. Now it all works.

For some reason, I often seem to have weird and wonderful problems with nodejs and npm when I update zigbee2mqtt. Node seems to have a lot of moving parts and to be prone to "issues".
