Also points you to the right direction in the docs. You can essentially copy paste your question there. MAke sure you select deep research and the tool will generated a comprehensive answer based on the docs and everything. Also there is a FAQ currently being developed: https://github.com/JaapvanEkris/openrowingmonitor/blob/create-faq-from-discussions/docs/faq.md I think your rower is listed as supported meaning that there is a config already existing. So once hardware is setup it is most likely plug and play. |

I think @carlito1979 has hands on experience with this machine. But most people here are willing to help and guide you through the process. Key element is to identify what cable is in the machine and what sensor they are using, so if you could provide pictures that would be great.
I would do so. With 6 magnets, it tends to be CPU intensive.
I use the original 7" Raspberry Pi screen (https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-touch-display/) and an ABS case around the two make it a pretty rock solid construction.
I used a 10WH Powerbank for a while, and I recently switched to a power socket with a small USB-C adapter. |

@mikcen The metal plate you see is just the back of the screen, and it has the mounting points for your Pi4 as well. Two wires (black and white) will go into the 1+/1- input side of the octocoupler from the sensor jack. There's three wires coming from the jack, but the two black are simply the "stereo" split from the jack and have the same signal. Then three wires feed from the output side to the Pi4. Vcc and GND are for the power, and then the feed from O1 is the one that will go to your designated GPIO port, which is 17 by default. If you look at the port layout below (and assuming the first power block is being taken up by the display power feed), then you need to plug into the Pi4 from the Octo as below: You can also follow the setup instructions here for the C2, as it's basically the same |

@carlito1979 @JaapvanEkris I’m just setting up Raspberry Pi Lite on the SD card and saw the performance optimisation section in the GitHub. From your experience, are any of these tweaks necessary? Performance mode etc.,disabling settings? Hoping to get the best performance from this. |

Hey team, I’ve installed ORM onto my Pi 4, but I’m running into an issue with the web screen. When I test it, I get the error: “Unit webbrowserkiosk.service could not be found.” I selected this option during the install. |

Hi mikcen. Which display did you end up getting, because at one stage you were considering a smaller screen? Each of the screens have different methods to get them to change their orientation. My original screen wasn't the official Raspberry Pi one and it was a pain to set up properly. But if you let us know which one you have I can look for the exact instructions. |

I have the 5" Touchscreen Display 2 (official) and I’m still stuck on getting it to work properly. 😅 So far, I’ve tried: and Editing /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt with: While this changes the Raspberry Pi’s orientation, ORM still defaults to portrait when it starts. |

Can't help you there sorry. I just got mine setup tonight. flankLength had to be set to 6 to accurately read strokes. Haven't done any other testing since but seems good. |

3D printed a real basic mount/holder. Seems to work really well with 7inch aliexpress screen. Plug and play, no wires cut so original screen easy to reinstall. |

@NickOldfield Bit of a long shot, but are you NZ‑based? If so, would you be open to helping me print a case? Since you’ve already got a working base model, I was hoping you might also be able to shrink it for the 5" screen, add a hole for an on/off switch, and maybe include some rear cutouts for airflow. I’m happy to cover your time and printing materials. I was going to get someone else to design and print one, but figured I’d ask you first since you’ve already got a functional case! 😅 |

Finally got a custom case made and everything’s come together nicely. I added vents at the back for better airflow, kept the original 3.5mm input, and integrated an angled USB-C adapter so it’s easy to plug in and out from the rear. Also installed a power switch on the right side to make turning it on and off much more convenient. Now my only thing is, maybe I should've gone with the 7" 🤷♂️🤣 Nah the 5" is plenty of screen especially when using with EXR/Mywhoosh. The tape is because I haven't got the right screws for the back plate yet haha

Thanks for all the help everyone I I really appreciate it. For some reason though, I feel like nothing is working for me haha. Issue 1: Screen not rotating (not a huge issue I can just run it in portrait for now). Issue 2: I wired everything up correctly. The first time I tried it, no data was coming through. I realised I hadn’t configured it in config.js, so I set it up based on the ForceUSA profile. After saving and rebooting, I’m now getting an “Unable to connect” message on the screen. 😢 I’m not sure if it’s related to the config change or something else, but I have no clue what I did wrong or why it’s not working Import rowerProfiles from './rowerProfiles.js' export default { // ANT+ and Bluetooth settings // Optional logging |

Please set log level default to debug and rowingengine to debug too. And then please post the logs from ORM so we can see what is going on. |

BLE is not loading and app is not starting because it is blocked by rfkill (this is a recent issue that is being manifested... trying to deal with it centrally but for now you need to do the below:

Sure, this is what worked for me. I’m using the official 5" Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 (I assume the same method should also work for the 7" version). First, I switched from Wayland to X11. I’m not sure if this was strictly necessary, but I saw it suggested in another forum so I did it anyway: sudo raspi-config Next, I followed the manual instructions to rotate the display by editing: However, as noted in the documentation, this only rotates the console. It didn’t rotate the kiosk mode (ORM web server). To rotate the kiosk display, I edited the Openbox autostart file: Then added: For the touchscreen orientation, I followed the instructions from the display manual again, using a Device Tree overlay. Example: The overlay names are: all info on how to get the correct touch is in the documentation. Tbh I didnt test if the touch needed to be changed aswell, I just did it just in case and it worked. Ah, that explains why it didn't work. The normal installation procedure starts with a lite-version of the OS (so no windows manager present) and actually installs X11. We are going to move to Wayland eventually, but it requires some attention to these details indeed before doing that. |

Hi team,
I recently got a Force USA R3 rower, now the Display unit doesnt give the best data and aswell the connecting isnt the best for apps like EXR (which is what I am wanting to us). Im looking at doing a ORM install. Im hoping someone has had experience with this rower and installed ORM.
The Software side of things seem straight forward, so I do have some other questions/ need a hand with.
