Another backend could be Automatic 1111. Its very easy to install even on Windows Systems and enjoys a large development comunity. Also has an api to generate images.

Automatic1111 works as a REST server with a gradio frontend IIRC. So the bot would simply use the JSON REST API from running the automatic1111 client.
